The Green Roots Collection Hosts a Community-Wide Art ProjectMay 10th, 2010, Hudson, Ohio: The Green Roots Collection, 41 Village Way, announces a community-wide art project taking root. Beginning, Saturday May 22nd, from 10:00a.m. -6:00p.m., families, youth clubs, and eco-artists of all ages can bring in plastic bottle caps to create large scale murals.
“The first mural will be more than 100 sq. ft. and require 3,000-5,000 plastic caps to complete”, Randy Baun, co-owner of The Green Roots Collection says. “Since most bottle caps used today are not made of recyclable plastic, we are reusing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. Together we can rid the world of a little trash, and add a lot of beauty. ”
In addition to the on-going, large-scale bottle-cap installation, The Green Roots Collection will offer free weekly crafts for children each Saturday beginning May 22 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Emphasizing the three-R’s, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The projects will teach children that recycling is not only good for the environment, but fun. “We encourage families to bring in their recyclables, says co-owner, Patrick Randall. “Items we will be using in up-coming crafts will require half-gallon milk and orange juice cartons, cereal boxes, two-liter plastic bottles, egg cartons, and of course tons of plastic caps.”
A listing of weekly crafts will be available on line at www.greenrootscollection.com. Space is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to sign up in advance.
